Claremont, Calif. (August 20, 2009) — For the third consecutive year, Pitzer College is included among the top fifty liberal arts colleges in the United States in the US News & World Report’s annual America’s Best College edition. Pitzer is ranked 49th of 266 colleges.
Pitzer’s placement is attributed to its high graduation and retention rate, small classes, low acceptance rate and faculty resources.
“As always it is rewarding to be recognized for Pitzer College’s excellence,” said Laura Skandera Trombley, Pitzer College president, “and we are pleased to be included among America’s finest liberal arts colleges.”
The 2010 America’s Best Colleges package provides the most thorough examination of how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools compare on a set of 15 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings, the key measure of quality are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance.
