Sagehen Women’s Tennis Team Advances to the NCAA Elite Eight

Claremont, Calif. (May 28, 2009) – The Women’s Tennis Team will advance to the 2009 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship quarterfinals with a 5-1 victory over University of Redlands.

This is the second consecutive year the Sagehens reached the Elite Eight as a team.

The 2009 NCAA Division III Championships will be hosted by Oglethorpe University at the Collins Hill Athletic Club in Atlanta, Georgia.

About the Pitzer-Pomona Sagehens

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC.) Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving. Pitzer students also participate in the Claremont Colleges club sports programs that compete nationally.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). There are 10 men’s and 11 women’s teams: baseball (men), basketball, cross country, football (men), golf, lacrosse (women), soccer, softball (women), swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball (women) and water polo.
