Pitzer College Alumnus Wins Southern California Horticultural Society Grant

Claremont, Calif. (May 20, 2009) — Pitzer College congratulates John Lee ’09, recipient of an educational internship grant from the Southern California Horticultural Society.

Lee, who double majored in environmental studies and economics, will use the grant this summer on the Pitzer campus to gain knowledge and experience in landscaping and gardening with an emphasis on sustainability and environmental consciousness.

The Southern California Horticultural Society is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to encouraging interests in horticulture in Southern California. The organization sponsors training internships at local botanic gardens each year.

Lee hopes to work in ecological restoration or organic agriculture with a specific focus in sustainable development. He also plans to attend graduate school to study environmental policy and/or natural resource management.
