Claremont, Calif. (May 8, 2009)—Pitzer College congratulates Christopher Thomas ’12, recipient of a James S. Kemper Foundation Kemper Scholarship.
Thomas, who plans to double major in economics and psychology, will attend Kemper Foundation’s 2010 summer internship program in Chicago. “I think this experience will give me a taste of what to expect from a professional setting and help prepare me for my career,” said Thomas. After graduation, Thomas hopes to work in the non-profit sector.
“Kemper Scholars represent campus leaders who are academically superior, community-oriented, committed and well-rounded undergraduates,” explains Dr. Ryan LaHurd, president and executive director of the James S. Kemper Foundation. “Kemper Scholars alumni have gone on to make outstanding contributions as leaders around the country.”
The Kemper Scholars Program prepares students for leadership and service in the management of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The program aims to promote education in the liberal arts while providing students opportunities for career exploration and practical experience through internships.
