Claremont, Calif. (May 27, 2009) — Pitzer College congratulates Yolanda Romanello ’05, recipient of Claremont Graduate University’s (CGU) “Dream and Believe” award. The scholarship provides one year’s tuition and stipend to a doctoral student whose life and research will make an impact on the community and world.
Romanello, who majored in Spanish studies in Latino culture at Pitzer, is currently pursuing her PhD in education.
“Receiving this award gives me the reassurance and the confidence that the path I’ve taken is the one for me. It gives me wings to fly away with my ideas and my dreams,” says Romanello.
The annual “Dream and Believe” scholarship was started nine years ago by former CGU trustee Pamela Mullin. It is awarded to a last-year doctorial student who shows exceptional promise and potential to become leaders in their field and change agents for the betterment of society. The scholarship is presented as a surprise during the CGU commencement ceremony.
Romanello serves on the board of the Pitzer College Alumni Association.
