Pitzer College Senior Wins Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship

Claremont, Calif. (May 1, 2009)–Pitzer College senior Sonya Fierst has been awarded a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to study abroad for an academic year.

Fierst double majors in sociology and international/intercultural studies, and she also studied abroad with Pitzer in Botswana. Through the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship program, she will be attending a university abroad and participate in community services projects with her sponsoring Rotary Club.

The purpose of the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships is to promote international understanding and good will through study in another country. Scholarships are awarded to college seniors or alumni to study abroad for one academic year.
