Pitzer-Pomona Baseball Ranks First in National Poll

Claremont, Calif (April 27, 2009)–The Pitzer-Pomona Sagehen baseball team is ranked first by the American Baseball Coaches Association’s Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Poll. Its SCIAC record is 15-0 and its overall record is 31-3.

The Sagehens had been ranked in the third and 11th spot by the biweekly poll earlier this season.

“It’s a good honor to be recognized,” says Coach Frank Pericolosi. “Our offense is one of the top offenses in the country. Our starting pitching has been very good, and our bullpen has been very good as well. We’ve had a lot of come-from-behind wins, and the team’s just been very competitive all year.”

With three games left in the regular season, the team is positioned to clinch the SCIAC championship title.
