Pitzer Sophomore Awarded 2009 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

Claremont, Calif. (April 8, 2009) – Pitzer College congratulates Allen Chen ’11, recipient of a 2009 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.

Chen, a molecular biology major, plans to pursue a MD or PhD in molecular biology and hopes to conduct research in molecular genetics, develop new gene therapies and teach at a medical university.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship was established by the US Congress to honor Senator Barry M. Goldwater. Its goal is to provide a continuing source of highly qualified scientists, mathematicians and engineers through college scholarships.
