Claremont, Calif. (September 16, 2005) — Pitzer College, a member of The Claremont Colleges, is pleased to announce Eugene P. Stein as the new Chair of the Pitzer College Board of Trustees. Stein, Vice Chairman of Capital Guardian Trust Company, a global investment management company, was unanimously elected as Board Chair and will serve a three-year term from 2005-2008. Stein will succeed Susan S. Pritkzer who served two consecutive three-year terms as chair. Pritkzer will remain an active member on the Pitzer College Board of Trustees.
Gene Stein is Chairman of the Executive Committee of Capital Guardian’s Board of Directors as well as Chairman of its North American Management Committee and its Investment Committee. He is a Director of the Capital Group Companies, Inc.; a Director of the Los Angeles Opera; a trustee of the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles, Temple Sinai of Glendale and the Educational Foundation of La Canada Unified School District. He also serves on the Board of Advisors to the Student Investment Fund at UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management and on the Investment Advisory Committee of the City of La Canada Flintridge as well as the Board of Overseers of the Claremont University Consortium.

Stein earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Los Angeles with a major in engineering. He and his wife, Mindy, live in La Canada. They have three children.
