Presidential Search Update

Dear Pitzer Community,

In the midst of this year’s extended Commencement celebrations, I want to offer a brief update on where we are in the presidential search process.

Last month we completed the extensive, cross-community listening sessions with our search consultants, WittKieffer. On behalf of the search committee and the Board of Trustees, I want to express my sincere thanks to all who participated. In 14 sessions, more than 150 faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends offered their perspectives, hopes, and desires with regard to Pitzer’s next leader. We also received 200 responses to our online survey. About half of the survey responses came from alumni; about 20 percent came from Pitzer parents.

The search committee is now in the process of drafting a Leadership Profile that captures the major themes from the listening sessions and surveys. Once completed, we will post the Leadership Profile on the Presidential Search website and share it with potential candidates. Working with our search consultants, we will contact people who are nominated by members of the Pitzer community and reach out to other individuals who have the experience and personal qualities we are seeking in our next leader.

We cannot select a new president without the involvement of the community they will collaborate with, plan and create with, serve, and lead. Your thoughtful participation in this historic process for Pitzer is felt and deeply appreciated.

I look forward to writing again when the Profile is available and the recruiting phase – the official public launch of our search – has begun.

Sincerely,

Thomas Brock ’83
Presidential Search Committee Chair
