We are pleased to announce three new members joining the Pitzer Board of Trustees this year, and also would like to acknowledge and thank two existing trustees who will be retiring from the board at the end of the academic year in May.
Derek Mitchell, PhD, was recently elected to serve as a trustee. Derek is the Chief Executive Officer of Partners in School Innovation and is a leader in advancing educational equity for low-income students of color across the country. He is also a trustee of the California Academy of Sciences. We look forward to benefitting greatly from Derek’s broad range of experiences in the educational and racial equity arena.
Jonathan Graham ’82 recently rejoined the Pitzer College Board after serving previously from 1997-2011. Jon is currently the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Amgen. He was honored as a 2020 Burton Awards “Legends in Law” for his work as General Counsel at Amgen. We are delighted to welcome Jon back to provide both his familiarity with Pitzer and his wisdom as we further invest in the sciences.
Gulnar Vaswani P’21 joined the board last fall. She is a diversity and inclusion consultant, social impact advocate, thought–leader, board advisor and executive coach to CEOs. Gulnar is re-imagining leadership for the 21st Century as she provides guidance on understanding and embracing inclusiveness, cross-cultural dynamics and diversity. She is a recipient of the Diversity List 2020 Award from the Zubin Foundation, Hong Kong. Gulnar’s expertise in these important areas will be immensely helpful to Pitzer.
Robert Fairbairn P’18, P’20, P’22 will be retiring from the board at the end of the academic year. Rob and his wife, Griff, have been ardent and generous supporters of Pitzer and we thank them both for their love and service to Pitzer.
Michael Weinholtz P’17 will be retiring from the board at the end of the academic year. We thank Michael and his wife Donna for their generous support over the past eight years.
