Harold A. Brown, a partner at Gang Tyre Ramer & Brown, became the College’s Board of Trustees chair on July 1, 2017, following two years of service as the Board’s vice chair.
A prominent attorney specializing in entertainment law, Brown joined Gang Tyre in 1976. His clients are among the most notable entertainers, authors, directors and producers in the world. In May 2017, the Beverly Hills Bar Association honored Brown as its Entertainment Lawyer of the Year.
Brown joined Pitzer’s Board of Trustees in 2009. He has served on multiple committees for the College, including the Executive Committee. He chaired the Compensation Committee and vice-chaired the Budget and Academic Affairs Committee. Brown was a member of the College’s Presidential Search Committee and the Board’s Divestment Working Group, which created Pitzer’s Climate Action Model to address climate change and orchestrate the College’s divestment from fossil fuels in 2014.
Brown also serves on the boards of Amblin Partners and the Geffen Playhouse. He earned his JD at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and his BA from Occidental College.
