Pitzer faculty and students have embraced the value of interactive teaching and learning environments since the College’s founding. When educational spaces are thoughtfully designed for active engagement, we can better provide a rich and productive learning experience for our students. In order to continue in this tradition and enhance our academic program, Pitzer College is seeking partners to invest in the renovation of five existing classrooms on campus over the next two years.

In these reinvented learning spaces, the flooring and seating are designed to provide flexibility and minimize maintenance costs. In addition, the highly efficient equipment and lighting will significantly reduce energy use. Innovative technology will enable faculty and students to deliver lectures and presentations with their own devices. This user-friendly system saves on staff time, maintenance and energy.

Pitzer Classroom

Pitzer recently began this effort in the summer of 2018 by renovating and combining two very small classrooms in Avery Hall. The redesigned and remodeled space contains several innovative features that create a flexible and vibrant learning environment for students. This project also demonstrates Pitzer’s leadership in and commitment to environmental sustainability and serves as a model for future classroom renovations on our campus.

Many of these features and more will be integrated into the design of upcoming classroom renovations at Pitzer. We hope you will join us in creating dynamic learning environments for current and future generations of Pitzer students.
