Student Learning Outcomes

The goal of the Admission Office is for prospective students and their families who interact with Admission to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the holistic admission process we use and the admission application requirements, including our test-free policy.
  2. Be familiar with the academic majors and minors Pitzer offers and Pitzer’s educational objectives, with particular emphasis on those that truly separate us from other liberal arts colleges: intercultural understanding, social responsibility, interdisciplinary emphasis and student autonomy.
  3. Know about the residential nature of the student community.
  4. Know about Pitzer’s commitment to attracting and retaining a diverse student body.
  5. Understand the requirements for applying for financial aid and know that Pitzer is committed to meeting 100% of the demonstrated financial need for our admitted students.
  6. Be familiar with the record of excellence of Pitzer faculty (e.g., publications, research grants, etc.) and Pitzer graduates (e.g., Fulbright Scholars, Watson Fellows, admission to graduate and professional programs, etc.).
  7. Be familiar with opportunities for engagement in on- and off-campus activities (e.g. athletics, clubs and organizations, Student Senate, standing committees, etc.).
  8. Be familiar with academic and non-academic opportunities available through our membership in The Claremont Colleges Consortium.

We achieve our goal through the following means of communication:

  1. Information sessions conducted by regular staff members and Admission Fellows
  2. Campus tours conducted by work-study students
  3. College fairs
  4. Individual visits to high schools throughout the US
  5. Fall Preview Days
  6. Diversity Program
  7. Printed materials
  8. Admission & Financial Aid Websites
