Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted no later than February 15, 2016, at 5:00 PM (PST).

Contest Rules: For a full list of contest rules, please see the terms and agreements section below. Several rules to highlight are:

  • All video entries must have been created between January 21, 2016 and February 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Any video entry deemed offensive, inappropriate, or that contains material that is hateful in nature toward any individual or group can be disqualified at the discretion of the review committee.
  • By entering a video into this contest, you are giving Pitzer College full right to use your video in any way it sees fit for promotional purposes.

How Winner is Chosen: We want to put the decision in the hands of the Pitzer community! Because of this, there will be two rounds of voting.

  1. First, a panel of five judges (made up of Pitzer staff and students) will select up to 5 finalists based on creativity, execution, and adherence to the prompt.
  2. Then, the finalist videos will be posted on a voting site where the entire Pitzer community can vote for their favorite video. During this period, finalists may lobby staff, faculty, and fellow students in any way they choose to maximize the votes for their entry.

Tips for Making an Awesome Video:

  • SHOW something– Don’t just make a video of you talking at the camera with a brick wall background. In addition to talking, also show yourself DOING something (hiking a mountain, eating a cookie at the Grove House, doing backflips on the mounds, etc.)
  • Be Creative – Our panel of judges won’t be focusing heavily on identifying production quality. Instead, they’ll mainly be focused on whether or not the entrant used creativity and approached the video from a unique angle.
  • Don’t Stress About Lack of Video Experience or Access to Fancy Equipment – Again, the selection panel will be looking for creativity – not perfection – in the first round of voting. It is set up this way so that every Pitzer student (regardless of video making experience) will have an equal chance of making it to the final round of voting. Also, don’t have a fancy camera? No problem. Use your phone 🙂
