TOEFL/IELTS Waiver Request

Pitzer requires TOEFL or IELTS scores from students whose native language is not English.

If you attended a high school where English was the language of instruction, you may request to have the TOEFL/IELTS requirement waived.

To request a waiver, applicants should ask their high school counselor to send an email to with your full name and date of birth. The email should confirm the number of years the applicant has studied within an English-speaking curriculum, and attest to the applicant’s command of English at a level commensurate with studying at a college or university.

The applicant will receive an official email from the Pitzer Office of Admission confirming whether or not their TOEFL/IELTS waiver has been granted. These emails are generally sent within 3-5 business days of the original request.

Please note that all waiver requests are considered on a case-by-case basis by the Pitzer Offices of Admission and International Programs, and not all waiver requests may be granted.
