Why did you chose Pitzer?
I chose Pitzer because of our emphasis on social justice and student engagement. Coming from a city like Atlanta and moving to Claremont was a major shift. I wanted to find a school that would allow me to explore my passion for activism, while still helping me understand issues outside of my own community. After talking to students and staff I knew this was the place for me!
What is your favorite memory at Pitzer?
My favorite memory at Pitzer was performing at our annual R&B and Hip-Hop Festival, One Night Only. There were students from all across the 5Cs coming together to see live performances and eat food. The crowd was amazing and it was refreshing to see so many people living in the moment. Plus, everyone knows that Pitzer puts on the best festivals lol. That was truly one for the books.
What is one of the most important lessons you’ve learned while at Pitzer?
One lesson Pitzer has taught me is being punctual. If you’re not at the omelet bar by 9:30am you’re out of luck.
What are your post-Pitzer plans?
Upon graduation, I will be working for The Nielsen Company in New York City doing data analytics and consumer insights.
Do you have any words of advice for current/admitted students?
Some advice I would give current students would be to use all the resources Pitzer has to offer. I’ve been able to study abroad, start a blog, organize events, and go to conferences thanks to the various offices on campus. This school is full of opportunity and the faculty genuinely wants to help you reach your full potential. Whether you have lunch with a faculty member once a month or join different clubs, remember that this is your new family so get to know EVERYONE.
