Residence Halls Receive Excellence in Design Award

Pitzer College's three new residence halls received a 2007 City of Claremont Excellence in Design Award in the category of New Construction and Sustainability. Claremont's Architectural Commission established the Excellence in Design Awards program in 1980 “to recognize and encourage high quality design projects.”

Residence Halls Achieve Gold LEED Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)

Pitzer College has been awarded Gold LEED certification by The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for its three new residence halls. Pitzer is the first Claremont College to receive Gold LEED certification for its residence halls and is among the few colleges and universities in the nation to achieve this major milestone.

Green Housekeeping

Policies and procedures have been designed by Pitzer College to reduce the impact harsh chemicals and solvents have on indoor environmental quality. Custodial Services has implemented a green housekeeping program that focuses on removing building pollutants by using safer cleaning products.
