Pitzer College is committed to the belief that residential life is an important component of the educational experience. It provides opportunity for individual growth through community involvement and interpersonal relationships. Few learning situations in life are more challenging or rewarding.

Residential Living

The majority of Pitzer students live in residence halls. Residential living enables students to share intellectual and educational pursuits while learning to live within a diverse community. It provides opportunities for individual growth through community involvement, interpersonal relationships, and social interaction. There are also a number of special programs organized by the Residential Life staff.

Residence Halls

Pitzer has five residence halls; the newest residence halls are Atherton, Sanborn, and Pitzer Halls, which were completed in the fall of 2007. The two older halls are Holden Hall and Mead Hall. All the rooms are wired for quick access to the campus network and the Internet.

Pitzer students have a long tradition of arranging their living communities based on common interests.

Each residence hall has a Hall Director and a staff of four to six Resident Assistants. A Hall Council is set up annually for each residence hall as a forum for addressing and meeting the needs of the community, voicing concerns and suggestions relating to the quality of residence life, and providing valuable information and programs for the residential community.

Pitzer College requires that all full-time students (except those granted off campus permission) live on campus and enter into a residency agreement each academic year when enrolled at the College.
