Three Ways to Become an OA Leader
This year we will bring on approximately 90 motivated students to lead OA trips. We aim to select a team of student leaders who are representative of the student body. All majors, skill sets, personalities are encouraged to apply.
There are three ways to become an OA leader:
1. Directly apply to lead an OA trip: On Friday (2/24/12) the leader application will become live on our website. Within this application you will have the ability to apply to lead a previous run OA trip (most leaders will be selected through this process) or design a new OA trip. Regardless of which trip you’d like to lead (new or old), if you are a first time applicant you will need to complete the leader application (10 minutes), go through a group process interview (1 hour) and follow-up interview (15 minutes). If you are a returning leader you will only need to complete the application (10 minutes) and if necessary an informal follow-up interview (15 minutes). See the 2012 roster for a complete list of currently scheduled trips.
2. Become an RA: If you apply to be an RA and are selected, you do not need to go through the OA leader application process. The RA selection process is fully completed before OA leader application closes. From the pool of selected RAs, 15 or so will be selected to lead an OA trip. However, if you go through the RA selection process and are not selected to be an RA, but would still like to lead an OA trip, you will need to go through the OA leader selection process, outlined in 1
3. Become a Mentor: If you apply to be a Mentor you will also need to complete the OA leader application (10 minutes), as leader applications are due before the Mentor selection process is complete. If you are selected to be a Mentor you will not need to go through the rest of the OA leader selection process (group process or interview). From the pool of selected Mentors, 15 or so will be selected to lead an OA trip. However, if you are not selected to be a Mentor, but would still like to lead an OA trip, you will need to complete the OA leader selection process, outlined in 1.
Selection will begin in February and March of 2012.
