Frequently Asked Questions

When do I register for classes?

Registration for new students takes place during New Student Orientation. When you arrive for Orientation, you will receive a packet including registration time information, a Pitzer College catalog, a registration form and your academic adviser assignment.

You may familiarize yourself with the Fall 2013 Schedule of Courses online via Pitzer's MyCampus2 portal at You do not need to log on to view the Course Schedule. You'll notice there are two
options available, Course Schedule and Classic Course Schedule (you may use either link; the Classic Course Schedule is a previous version that is still maintained due to additional search features included). Make sure the term you choose is "Fall 2013."

The Course Schedule includes updated course information including enrollment availability and course requirements/prerequisites. We suggest searching by "Course Area" to search for courses in a particular field. When viewing a list of courses, click on the Notes icon or the course code, which takes you to screen with course details, including a description and requirements for the course.
Note: Under the “Status” column, you may see a “VIEW” button.  This appears if the instructor has requested specific enrollment categories, so you should click on the button to see if the class is open to you.

Who is my Academic Adviser?

You will receive your adviser information in your New Student Orientation packet. You will have several opportunities during the week and weekend to meet with your academic adviser to discuss Pitzer's Educational Objectives and graduation requirements and also select courses for the semester.

Is it hard to get the classes I want at Pitzer?

You will be able to take the classes you desire while at Pitzer, although they may not all be open to you during your first semester/year. Some classes inevitably fill before all students have registered. We recommend that you list several alternate classes on your registration form, which must be signed by your adviser. There are over 1,000 classes at the Claremont Colleges, so there will be many to choose from!
