Q&A with Angie Martinez '09
Can you describe the women's soccer teams' season this year?
We did very well in the second half of season. We won a lot of important games and showed that we were one of the top teams in SCIAC. Conference was really tough this year and its nice to see that kind of competition. There were obviously four or five teams that were pretty equivalent which is why it came down to the end who went through to the final four tournament. We gave it our all, sometimes we were unlucky, sometimes we were lucky. We will be back next year to give it our all again.
Which particular contributions to the team or moments during this season are you most proud of?
I was able to score goals, including some important goals this season. I also created dangerous plays and combined well with my Pomona teammate Elli Seo. We were both a threatening presence up top that other teams had to worry about.
What does it mean to you to be honored in this way?
I gave it my all this season considering I was coming back from an ACL injury and I was honored that others saw my potential and talent on the soccer field.
Are there any statements you want to make on behalf of yourself or for/to your teammates?
I have a really great team and they inspire me to perform at my highest level. Were all like one big family and we support each other on and off the field.
