President Trombley to Give CASE Keynote Address
President Laura Skandera Trombley will serve as keynote speaker for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII conference Dec. 5 in San Francisco. President Trombley’s keynote address is titled “Our Mandate is to Change the Universe: Advancement in the 21st Century.”
“She brings to the College a level of energy and imagination suitable for a young college, yet combines it with the seriousness and determination of an institution that is, as she noted in her inaugural address, ‘Coming of Age,’” CASE officials noted in an announcement about her speech.
CASE cited President Trombley’s status as a noted Mark Twain scholar, her appearance in the 2002 Ken Burns documentary titled “Mark Twain,” and her invitation to a White House literary symposium on American authors. The council further noted that she is currently at work on her fifth book, Mark Twain’s Other Woman.
The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII encompasses five states in the southwest, including Hawaii. Within District VII exists a diversity not seen elsewhere in the United States. District VII has myriad state and private universities and colleges, community colleges, and independent schools that are home to a wide variety of ethnic, racial and cultural students, faculty, staff and alumni.
