Pouring a Foundation for the Future
Claremont, Calif. (April 13, 2006) – Today marks a milestone step in the Pitzer College Residential Life Project. Pouring for the concrete foundation for the new Atherton Residence Hall began in the early morning hours with twenty cement trucks taking turns delivering 200 cubic yards of concrete for the building’s footings. This is the first visible sign of the structure and construction activity that will accelerate toward the completion of Phase I of the Residential Life Project in 2007. Foundation work is scheduled to continue with a second pour for Pitzer Hall on Thursday, April 20.

Vice President for Student Affairs, Jim Marchant, and
Director of Facilities, Larry Burik, look on as the construction
crew gets underway.

cement pumper truck puts the concrete exactly where it needs to go.
