Grove House
Grove House
The Zetterbergs, who were Claremont citrus growers, built the California Bungalow-style house in 1902. The house was acquired from Pilgrim Place, a local retirement community for former missionaries, in 1975 and was moved to the campus in 1977. It was dedicated in 1980. Pitzer Professor Barry Sanders was instrumental in the college’s efforts to save the house from destruction. In 1981, the Grove House received an award from the City of Claremont for the Best Historical Restoration Project of the Year. The house now serves as a campus social center, complete with meeting areas and a café.
