Master Classes and Special Events
During the 2009-2010 school year, the Writing Center sponsored a series of master classes taught by professional writers with an interest in mentoring writing students at the Claremont colleges.
During Spring semester 2010, we sponsored three events: a conversation with Roger Sutton and Susan Patron on censorship of children's books and two master classes, a class on documentary filmmaking by Scott Hamilton Kennedy, and a course by Dianne Dixon on fiction writing.
Other previous master classes and special events included:
- A course by Douglas Kearney, an accomplished poet, performer, and librettist (Fall 2009). For information on Douglas Kearney's work, visit www.douglaskearney.com.
- A reading by award-winning poet Brenda Hillman in the Nichols Gallery. Visit www.blueflowerarts.com.
- A special series of three master classes in screen writing taught by highly acclaimed writer and director Matthew Carnahan. For more information about this series, see Matthew Carnahan Screenwriting Series.
- We are not offering any Master Classes for 2010-2011.
