Waive or Sign up for Health Insurance
Proof of health insurance MUST be provided prior to making your tuition and fee payment.
Pitzer College requires that all full and qualifying part-time students carry some form of health insurance. You may have a private insurance policy or elect to enroll in an insurance policy provided through the College. The College further requires that proof of insurance be provided to the College EACH year that you are an enrolled student.
You must provide this proof by completing the Insurance Waiver/Enrollment form available here and returning it to the Office of Student Affairs, or by contacting the Office of Student Affairs at 909.621.8241. In order to fill out the pdf form and email it, download the form to your computer. If you fill it out in your browser window, the data may not save correctly.
If proof of insurance is not provided, the student’s account will be charged with the current annual Student Health Insurance Premium.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Student Insurance Plan
What does it cost?
Annual costs are subject to change each year. There is an annual $100 deductible which is waived if you use Student Health Services first. The Student Health Center is located at 757 College Way. For current costs, please view the most recent brochure at this website: www.renstudent.com/claremont. When selecting your school, please be sure to choose "Claremont Colleges."
Can I use my own doctor?
You must first get a referral from Student Health Services. If your doctor is part of the First Health Network (PPO), coverage will be 90% paid. If your doctor is outside of the First Health Network, coverage will be 70% paid. For a list of doctors, you can visit www.myfirsthealth.com
How do I submit a claim?
If you paid for services out-of-pocket due to emergencies, please go to Student Health Services to submit a claim form. You can also download claim forms at www.renstudent.com/claremont.
Will this insurance cover me while abroad?
Yes. However, if you are in a foreign country, you will more than likely have to pay for services out-of-pocket and will be reimbursed once you submit your claim form. It is unlikely that the doctor outside of the United States will be a member of the First Health Network.
Does the insurance cover sports injuries?
No. For a complete list of exclusions, please refer to the brochure at www.renstudent.com/claremont.
How do I get an identification card?
Once you are enrolled in the plan, an identification card will be sent to your Pitzer mailbox. You can use the temporary tear-off card located on the back page of the brochure until you receive your permanent identification card.
