The generosity of Pitzer's alumni, parents and friends is always amazing. Even through these tying times since the events of Sept. 11, Pitzer's Campaign has been reaping stellar results.
I am overjoyed to share with you the fact that the April 7 film benefit is a sellout! We are on course to bring in $175,000 this year, more than doubling the $80,000 raised for scholarships last year. This year's benefit, to be held at the Paramount Studios lot in Hollywood, will feature "Changing Lanes," a psychological thriller starring Ben Affleck, Samuel L. Jackson and William Hurt. A post-premiere party will take place immediately after the screening.

This benefit, which helps to provide much-needed support to our deserving students, is critically important to Pitzer, especially since half of our students receive some kind of scholarship support. The red-carpet fanfare associated with the world premiere of a major motion picture also helps to raise Pitzer's visibility.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of Trustee Susan Dolgen and her husband, Jonathan, who arranged for the film to have its world premiere at Pitzer's benefit. For their support and leadership in this year's event, I thank Trustees Constance A. Austin, Nancy Rose Bushnell '69, Leslie Dashew '70 and William D. Sheinberg '83; alumnus Eric Rasmussen '96 and his parents, Dean and Kathleen Rasmussen; and Jill Ford Harmon '66 -- and, of course, our fabulous Advancement staff.
A portion of the proceeds will be used to establish a scholarship in the name of Amanda Crosby '97. As you may know, Amanda passed away in February, seven weeks after suffering burns in a New York City apartment fire. Amanda's family will attend the film benefit, which is dedicated to her memory.
I look forward to seeing those of you who purchased tickets at this glamorous, star-studded event. - Marilyn Chapin Massey
