Later this month, a days-long celebration commemorating Cesar Chavez will take place at The Claremont Colleges.
The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, March 25, with Espreso Mi Cultura at The Motley, Scripps College. Mexican food will be served in Mallott Commons.

At 7 p.m. on March 26, the Taco Shop Poets will perform at the Coffeehouse at Claremont Graduate University.
At 5:30 p.m. on March 27, Congressman Xavier Becerra will be the guest speaker at the Athenaeum, Claremont McKenna College. Music will be provided by Tony Aguilar from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mexican food will be served in Collins Dining Hall.

Congressman Becerra, a Democrat, was elected to California's 30th District in November 1992. He now is serving his fourth term. The district covers a large area of Los Angeles, including Chinatown, Hollywood, Elysian Park, Highland Park, Lincoln Heights and Koreatown. He serves on the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and the House Ways and Means Committee, handling such issues as social security, tax policy and oversight of the IRS. A member of the Pitzer College Board, Becerra is a former deputy attorney general with the California Department of Justice.
