Toward our goal of increasing the endowment, we have raised nearly $13 million or 65 percent of the $20-million target. Thanks to many generous gifts to the Annual Fund, we now have $4.5 million or 56 percent of our goal for this area, in hand. And finally, we have raised $6.4 million toward the College's special projects and programs, including the Center for California Cultural and Social Issues, Pitzer in Ontario, the Arboretum and Grove House, and our new multimedia classrooms in Scott Hall, to name just a few.
I have spent much of the summer visiting with our trustees and prominent alumni about the Campaign. With the slate of visits, dinners and events planned throughout the fall semester, I have a full travel schedule: Bay Area (Sept. 11-12), Denver (Sept. 26-28), Kansas City (Oct. 8-9), Chicago (Oct. 10-11), Seattle and Portland (end of October to early November), Washington, D.C., and New York (end of November), and San Diego (mid-December).
Finally, I would like you to know that we have received two important invitations to submit proposals: one from The James Irvine Foundation for a $1-million initiative on diversity and the other from Project Pericles for $100,000 around our program of social responsibility.
