Reception for Award-Winning Seniors More than 10 Pitzer seniors have won or are finalists for prestigious fellowships this year! In fact, it has been said that Pitzer has received more fellowships this year than the other Claremonts combined! Come celebrate these remarkable individual and institutional accomplishments at a reception honoring these amazing students on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. (just prior to College Council). Details will follow. Artist Barbara Kruger to Visit Pitzer Artist Barbara Kruger, internationally renowned for her often politically charged poster-style pieces, will discuss her artistic style and one of her latest art projects: a piece about student life for which she will gather objects from Pitzer. The project will be introduced to the community at "The Spectacle of Relationships: Art as a Catalyst for Social Change," 4:15 p.m. on May 2, in the Founders Room of McConnell Center. The event includes a slide show and roundtable discussion of Kruger's art. Kruger, a Los Angeles resident, recently held retrospective exhibits at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Whitney Museum of Art in New York. She is well known for her use of black-and-white photographs emblazoned with slogans in red text boxes. Her pieces utilize advertising techniques to provoke thinking about the range of ways that humans interact in social relationships.
