FEC Seeks Junior Rep The Faculty Executive Committee (FEC) is accepting nominations for junior student representatives. The term is two years, though student representatives may take a one-semester leave from their committee responsibilities to participate in external-studies programs. Applicants should be juniors in fall 2001 and should be in good academic and disciplinary standing. The FEC weekly meeting schedule for 2001-2002 is Thursdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nominations may be submitted to President Marilyn Chapin Massey.
Seeking Plant Donations The Program in American College English (PACE) is requesting donations of flowers, plants and herbs for this year's flower booth at the International Festival. Donations should be brought to the PACE office in Scott Hall 110 on April 6. All proceeds benefit International Place. FMI: Elaine Padilla, ext. 18308.
Freshman Seminar Writing Awards Two students recently were honored with Freshman Seminar Writing Awards. Oceana Lamberto-Egan and John Nixon were the recipients of the first annual Freshman Seminar Writing Award for their essays titled, respectively, "Beneath The Weeping Willow, There Lies a Weeping Rhino" and "The Problem of Free Will." Four students also received honorable mentions: Sara Harling, Debby Hsieh, Star Mayo and Sarah Munro. The essays were judged by a committee of five faculty members: Barbara Ige, Steve Glass, Brian Keeley, Lissa Petersen and Dana Ward. The six essays will be posted on the Pitzer web site.
Dance Concert Tickets On Sale Tickets are now on sale for The Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company's annual concert, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 27 and 28 in Bridges Auditorium. The group will perform a variety of dances with everything from the waltz to latin cha-cha, with special solos by local professionals.
