The Campaign Trail: More Good News
It gives me great pleasure to start the spring semester with three major announcements related to The Campaign for Pitzer College.
First, the College recently received a generous endowment gift from the R. Stanton Avery Foundation - $500,000 for student scholarships to help us meet our goal of increasing access to a talented and diverse student body. The Avery family has a long and distinguished history as supporters of Pitzer College. We owe our gratitude for this gift to Judith Avery, a retiring Life Trustee, and her daughter, Caroline "Carrie" Avery, who was recently appointed to our Board of Trustees.
Second, we have received the first installment of the $3.28 million gift from our anonymous alumna, and the Faculty Executive Committee has appointed Professor of Anthropology Sheryl Miller as the inaugural recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Chair in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology. This exciting news will be formally announced and celebrated later in the semester.
Finally, I urge you all to mark your calendars for some exciting events celebrating the public announcement of The Campaign for Pitzer College on Alumni Weekend, April 27 - 29. More details will follow as planning progresses.
