Cubby Broccoli and Media Studies
Albert R. Broccoli, better known as "Cubby" and as the producer of 15 James Bond movies, as remembered by media studies students here at Pitzer College on Friday as the Media Studies Studio was dedicated in his name.
In a ceremony in the Broad Center Performance Space, Broccoli, who died in 1996, was honored by the College and by media studies students who showed excerpts of their video work as completed on equipment donated by family members Michael and Jane Wilson and by the Dana & Albert R. Broccoli Charitable Foundation.
In attendance were Broccoli family members Dana Broccoli; Michael and Jane Wilson; Barbara Broccoli and Fred Zollo; and Tina Brewer and her daughter, Heather.
James Massey, speaking on behalf of President Marilyn Chapin Massey, noted that the media studies gift was the result of a visit by Broccolis stepson, Michael Wilson, to the College two years earlier. Alexandra Juhasz, associate professor of media studies, told family members: "Your gift to us has enormously affected our program, a program that means a lot to me and to our students."
On behalf of her late husband, Dana Broccoli said: "The first time we came here, we could feel the energy, excitement and enthusiasm the students had. If in some small way, we have helped that along, were very happy."

CCTV, the cable-television production studio of The Claremont Colleges, needs faculty assistance to boost student involvement in programming and broadcasting. "To aid students in the process of getting their work on the air, we are trying to establish a list of faculty interested in supporting student videography for CCTV," says Curt Johanson, CCTV programming liaison. "As a student and faculty resource, CCTV is underutilized. Very few programs are brought to us, and those that we do get are re-run several times because of lack of new material." Interested faculty should e-mail Johanson at cjohanson@pomona.edu.
