Pitzer College Executive Chef Named Chef of the Year
Claremont, Calif (July 26, 2010) – Dennis Lofland, executive chef of Pitzer College's McConnell Dining Hall, was named 2010 Chef of the Year by Bon Appétit.
Recently, Lofland took first place in Bon Appétit's first Collegiate Chef Wars, in which head chefs from seven colleges and universities in Southern California competed. Lofland attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York and began his career in well respected establishments such as Terripan and Culinary Adventures.
"Coming to Pitzer, I wanted to work with the college's culture of sustainability and healthy eating by crafting daily menus that also satisfy taste buds. I'm honored to be recognized by Bon Appétit and look forward to showcasing delicious cuisines with local ingredients," said Lofland.
Pitzer College, in partnership with Bon Appétit Management Company, works to provide students with healthy and delicious cuisine from locally-grown ingredients.
