How to Configure Outlook Express 6.0 (Windows)

This help sheet will provide you with instructions on how to configure Outlook Express 6.0 to access your Pitzer e-mail. To configure Outlook Express to connect to the Pitzer e-mail server, you will be required to enter your Pitzer user name and password.

 


E-mail Settings
  • Incoming Mail Server:
    fepzhal.pitzer.edu
  • Outgoing Mail Server :
    fepzhal.pitzer.edu

 

Configuring Outlook Express

  1. Start Outlook Express by clicking Start>Programs>Outlook Express. If this is the first time Outlook Express has been launched on your computer, you will see the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box. If the Internet Connection Wizard doesn't start, you may manually start it by clicking the Set up a Mail account link from within Outlook Express (Figure 1).

  1. In the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box, type you name in the Display name box as you would like it to appear to others and click the Next button.
  1. In the E-mail address: box enter your Pitzer e-mail address and click the Next button.
  1. In the E-mail Server Names dialog box enter the following information and click the Next button (Figure 2):
  • My incoming mail server is a : IMAP
  • Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: fepzhal.pitzer.edu
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: fepzhal.pitzer.edu

  1. In the Internet Mail Logon dialog box, enter your Pitzer account user name and password and click the Next button.
  1. In the Congratulations dialog box, click the Finish button. An Outlook Express dialog box will than prompt you to download folders from the mail server you just added. Click Yes.
  1. In the Show/Hide IMAP Folders dialog box click OK.
  1. On the Tools menu click Accounts.
  1. In the Internet Accounts dialog box select the mail tab.
  1. Select the Pitzer email account and click on the Properties button.
  1. In the Properties dialog box select the Servers tab.
  1. Under Outgoing Mail Server, put a check in the box next to My server requires authentication and click OK (Figure 3).

  1. Close the Internet Accounts dialog box.
  1. Finished! You should now see your Pitzer e-mail in your Inbox in the newly created account.
