ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

Director of Information Technology

Essential Functions: This is a regular, full-time, exempt, staff position. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration/Treasurer, the incumbent is responsible for leading all aspects of the Information Technology (IT) department of the College. The incumbent is responsible for all facets of the acquisition, development, and implementation of the automated information systems and hardware; including system analysis, design, documentation, installation, and evaluation. Specific functions include, but are not limited to:

1. Lead and supervise the IT department functions, operations and eleven staff members.
2. Operate within budget, promoting collaborative and innovative approaches to manage resources to maximize the effectiveness of the IT environment and minimize the impact of budget constraints.
3. Responsible for the overall security of IT systems and technologies.
4. Provide strategic leadership to align technology and IT operational framework to effectively support the College's academic and business needs and Mission.
5. Collaborate with college stakeholders to establish and maintain a planning and governance framework to execute effective IT strategies and set institutional direction.
6. Responsible for disaster recovery planning and the re-establishment of IT services after a disaster.
7. Remain knowledgeable of the latest educational technologies. Anticipate needs and introduce new technology as appropriate.
8. Design, document, implement, and evaluate the information systems, including long-range and strategic planning.
9. Recommend policies and procedures to maintain and/or enhance automated and integrated systems.
10. Develop and maintain system documentation, programming standards, program documentation of integrated information system, and an index of authorized applications and software.
11. Monitor and assist with the information flow among offices, and with providing technology for classes.
12. Serve as liaison between internal and external constituents for IT issues, and on committees.
13. Responsible for the IT portion of the annual external audit, and other IT audit and review activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The following are the minimum requirements necessary to be considered for this position:

1. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Science, Business, or a related field plus a minimum of 7 years of appropriate experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in said fields plus a minimum of 9 years of appropriate experience.
2. Proven strong leadership, planning, and management skills with the ability to stimulate participation and collaboration.
3. Experience managing complex information technology environments and associated budgets.
a. Preference for management experience in both higher education and non-profit institutions.
4. Experience working with senior-level administrators to establish institutional IT strategies.
5. Experience initiating organizational change and guiding technology organizations and the constituents they serve through an extensive process of assessment, redesign, implementation, and evaluation.
6. Proven knowledge and experience with strategic planning, development and evaluation.
7. Network management knowledge and detailed work experience with newest versions of MS Office Suite and other basic academic software, in both PC and Mac platforms.
8. Expertise with information system design, implementation, documentation and evaluation; including database management practices.
9. Knowledge of and experience with security and protocols for IT systems and technologies.
10. Knowledge of safe work practices regarding the California Ergonomic Standard.
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies.
12. Ability to work on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Residence Director

Essential Functions: This is a regular, full-time (12-month), exempt, staff position reporting to the Dean of Students. This position is responsible for the overall operation of a residence hall serving between 200-320 students. Individual responsibilities include but are not limited to:
a. supervising a student employee staff of 6-10 Resident Assistants;
b. providing pertinent and valuable training and evaluation;
c. coordinating residence hall programming and advising hall councils;
d. supervising a variety of student workers within the residence hall;
e. assisting in the administration of the student conduct process within the hall;
f. participating in the on-call duty schedule on a rotating basis; and
g. responding to crises as appropriate.
In addition, Residence Directors have the opportunity to sit on campus-wide committees, chair Residence Life initiatives, and work with the Dean of Students to select an emphasis area within the Office of Student Affairs that could comprise up to 30% of the position responsibilities.

Residence Directors are expected to take an active role in the continued development of a growing Residence Life program. They must be a visible and approachable campus presence, and available for individual and group counseling and mediation on personal, academic, and social issues.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The following are the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
a. a Bachelor’s degree; some Master’s coursework or a Master’s degree is preferred.
b. a minimum of one year of professional experience in residence life or student affairs.
c. Must be student-centered with a demonstrated commitment to promoting unity and community in a diverse environment.
d. Very strong ability to effectively counsel and listen to students.
e. Ability to provide an effective crisis response.
f. Strong understanding of the importance of co-curricular experiences in supporting the academic mission of the College.
g. Must be a positive, energetic, team-oriented individual with a demonstrated record of collaboration.
h. Candidates must be student advocates, self-starters, open-minded, energetic, innovative, conscious of the environment, and committed to social justice.

Monthly Salary: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, plus an excellent fringe benefits package, including a year-round, rent-free, one-bedroom apartment and a full meal plan when the College is in session.

Administrative Assistant for Alumni and Parent Relations

Essential Functions: This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt, staff position. This position has primary responsibility for administrative support to the Office of Alumni and Parent relations, and related events and committees. Work involves knowledge of Pitzer and department policies and events.
1. Provide administrative support to the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations, the Alumni Board, the Parent Leadership Council, and other department committees as needed.
2. Respond independently to alumni and parent inquiries requiring knowledge of department policies, resources and events, by email, phone, and in person.
3. Assist with planning & coordinating logistics for various alumni & parent events, on and off campus.
4. Assist with production and dissemination of mass communications to alumni, parents and families via print, email and web publications. Create and maintain communications via social media outlets.
5. Assist in coordinating the logistics for department and committee meetings and associated activities.
6. Assist in coordinating travel arrangements for office staff. Prepare travel expense reports as needed.
7. Collect, sort, open and distribute mail for the office.
8. Assist with ordering and maintaining office and event supplies as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The following are the minimum requirements necessary to be considered for this position:
1. High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 or more years of college or business school; or the equivalent in education, training and/or experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
2. Five or more years of related experience of increasing responsibility; preferably in an academic institution.
3. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with the latest versions of Microsoft Office suite and familiarity using social media sites. Experience with Raiser’s Edge and/or NetCommunity is desirable.
4. Ability to compose high-quality written communications, correspondence, agendas, and meeting materials in English with an attention to detail. Strong proof-reading skills.
a. Top candidates will be required to take a writing/proof-reading test.
5. Strong organizational skills in managing multiple tasks and priorities.
6. A high level of energy to deliver strong & consistent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
7. Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to work effectively and cordially with diverse and multiple constituencies.
8. Ability to transport self to local, off-site events.
9. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
10. Ability to lift boxes and other items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, stretch, climb and bend to set up event signs and decorations.

Hourly Rate: $16.45 plus excellent benefits.
