BUDGET ANALYST # 440

Monthly Salary: Dependent upon qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package.

Essential Functions: Regular, full-time position reporting to the Budget Director/Associate Treasurer. Provide accounting and financial analysis support to the Budget Director/Associate Treasurer and Vice President/Treasurer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to review and processing of accounting transactions for College departments; audit and reconciliation of expenses for Pitzer’s study abroad programs; accounting, reporting and monitoring compliance of private, state and federal grants; researching specific accounting questions for departments; reconciliation of general ledger accounts; development and maintenance of management accounting reports using FRx software; administration of on-line office products ordering system and purchase cards, assisting with periodic investment reporting; preparation of institutional surveys and other financial analysis projects as required.

Required Skills & Abilities: Strong analytical skills. Strong skills in Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel. Ability to construct and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Access a plus. Strong general accounting knowledge and experience. Ability to learn and use the College’s financial information systems (Datatel and Jenzabar CX). Experience with database query languages would be helpful. Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work effectively and congenially with a diverse community of faculty, staff and students. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in accounting or related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Three to five years of detailed, technical accounting and financial analysis work experience. Experience in performing financial analysis and account reconciliations. Knowledge of college and university or other not-for-profit accounting preferred.

JUMPSTART PROGRAM COORDINATOR # 439

Monthly Salary: $3,468 monthly, plus benefits.

Position: This is a one-year position (July 2008 - June 2009) with the possibility of continuation with extended grant funding.

Essential Functions: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Pitzer College site of the Jumpstart program. Recruit, train and supervise Corps members, Team Leaders and work-study student employees. Assist in creating and managing site budgets, and provide programmatic and fiscal data for reporting purposes. Coordinate volunteer opportunities, program promotion and AmeriCorps site visits.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Bachelor’s degree, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Background in early childhood education and/or experience in such a setting. Strong management and leadership abilities. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with university personnel and the general community. Ability to comprehend and manage basic fiscal matters, such as budgets. Strong technological competency and a proven ability to multi-task. Commitment to Jumpstart’s mission and serving the community. Director of Media Studies Production Services # 438

Classification: Regular, full-time, Exempt, 12-month position.

Essential Functions: Oversee 5-college Media Studies budget, acquiring equipment and software for the 5-C programs. Co-ordinate or conduct workshops and lead classes in video, film/editing hardware and software for 5-C Media Studies production and post-production classes. Oversee and perform installations, upkeep and repair of video, film and computer equipment in the Media Studies Department. Oversee the transition to 5-College Media Studies department. Consult with, advise and instruct media studies students regarding system operations. Maintain equipment inventories, check out equipment and maintain records. Supervise full-time staff employee/s. Supervise student employees.

Required Skills and Abilities: Must conceptualize and direct the growth of the 5-C Media Studies production facilities in accordance with department goals. The director must have an understanding of digital production and editing. Must possess basic technical skills and knowledge of equipment related to a media studies department. Macintosh platform familiarity is a must. Familiarity with Final Cut Pro is required. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash, animation and sound editing programs, a plus. The ideal candidate should have a degree from a film & video or art program. Experience as a media maker is a plus. Must have the ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain media related equipment. Must have ability to interact well with diverse student groups and work effectively in a tutorial setting. Knowledge of safe work practices as it pertains to equipment operation and repair. Ability to bend stoop and lift heavy equipment. The successful candidate must undergo a full background check and employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.

HALL DIRECTOR # 436 (repeat)

Essential Functions: Regular, full time position for the Office of Student Affairs. Responsible for the overall operation of a 180-300 person residence hall. Must be visible and accessible, with a strong campus presence, and be an advocate for students. Assist in the selection and training of the entire Resident Assistant (RA) staff. Supervise and evaluate the respective building RA staff and desk worker staff. Coordinate and implement residence hall programs and workshops. Serve as an advisor to the hall council of the building. Assist in the administration of the student conduct process within the hall. Be available and approachable for individual and group counseling and mediation on personal, academic, and social issues. Responsible for on-call duty on a rotating basis and responding to crises when appropriate. Successful candidate will be assigned an emphasis area within the division of Student Affairs that will comprise up to 40% of their responsibilities.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with some graduate work. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of one-year professional experience in housing or residence life. Must be student-centered with a demonstrated commitment to promoting unity and community in a diverse environment. Essential Functions: Regular, full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Information Technology. Provide technical expertise and oversight for Pitzer College’s CX application and CX-Web support staff. Work includes CX application and Web/Portal Programming, database management, systems management, development and implementation of data integrity procedures, Cognos report-writing, and requires strong team work with the college-wide Web Team, the Information Technology staff, and various system users in support of CX, CX Web, Portal and report-writing applications. Recommend and perform the redesign of programs; investigate and analyze the feasibility of program requirements. Develop programming specifications, and complete programming and implementation. Analyze needs, design, write, test and install new CX, Web CX, portal programs and Cognos report-writing applications. Work with all users of the Student Information System to ensure data integrity and accuracy; a member of the College’s Information Technology Department, CX Data Standards Committee, Pitzer CX-IT Project Management Team and various consortium CX implementation/support committees. Supervise CX support staff.

Required Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of: HP UNIX and Informix; Jenzabar CX product and associated database structure; web programming/development tools, e.g. PERL, VB, ASP, .Net environment, XML, Java (all flavors), Javascript, DHTML, CSS ASP, MSSQUL, XML, Flashgenerator, Cold Fusion; Apache and IIS web server administration; recognized web development standards, e.g. W3C recommendations; and various graphics formats and manipulation techniques. Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols. Excellent interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Excellent oral and written skills.

Must be able to provide technical support for the development and maintenance of the CX related application and web services at the College. Identify problems and work with the appropriate staff to recommend and implement solutions and to enforce data standards. Work with faculty, students and staff in a collegial manner. Define realistic, specific goals and objectives and prioritize them. Provide high-quality customer services. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Education & Experience: B.S. in Computer Science or related degree. Minimum of four years of proven experience in development, production and maintenance of the dynamic, complex, multi-user application or Web site. Possesses advanced knowledge of HTML and DHTML and the ability to script and program in PERL, VBscript, Javascript, CGI, ASP, and Java using a text editor. Excellent skills in MSSQL, web server administration, Visual Studio or .Net (including Visual InterDev), Cold Fusion, Photoshop, Fireworks, Shockwave and other Web authoring software and experience with Windows servers.

FOOD SERVICE WORKER: LINE SERVER/UTILITY # 435

Hourly Rate & Schedule: $9.64 plus excellent benefits. Work hours: Monday, Thursday, Friday 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

This is a regular, part-time position working approximately 28 hours per week during the academic year, September-May, and when special groups arrive on campus during the summer. 12-month work is available and offered in Grounds or Custodial to fill in during periods when the dining hall is closed.

Essential Functions: Set up, maintain and sanitize the entrée line. Return leftover foods to the kitchen. Greet and assist guests in the servery with food choices based upon an understanding of the day’s menu. Adhere to sanitation standards. Act as a key link in the food safety chain. Fill in as Utility Person when needed, which may include dishwashing, sanitation and/or busser/runner duties. Customer service and food safety awareness are key elements of the job.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Graduation from high school/GED, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Six months to 1 year of related work experience preferred. Ability to follow oral & written instructions in English. Must have the ability to work with a diverse community of co-workers, students, staff and faculty. Must be friendly and have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to bend, stoop and stand for long periods; lift stacks of dishes or other heavy items. Awareness of the importance of sanitation standards for food safety.
