The Junior Scholars program is designed to permit the appointment of young scholars of color who show special promise or distinction at an early stage in their careers. To give them an opportunity to focus on undergraduate teaching, junior scholars will be placed in teaching positions and mentored with experienced faculty. They can team-teach a course with another faculty member or teach classes of their own. They will also give at least one public talk during their time at the College. Junior scholars will bring diverse perspectives to the College, and, in return, will acquire skills that will serve them well wherever they go in academia. Applicants must be ABD or have completed their Ph.D. within the past five years. These fellowships are one-year appointments. Junior scholars who are ABD will be expected to teach one class during their fellowship year. Junior scholars with a Ph.D. will be will be expected to teach two classes during their fellowship year. Salary and benefits will be competitive.
Our junior scholar program is run under the aegis of the Consortium for a Strong Minority Presence at liberal arts colleges. The application form and further details can be obtained from their web page at http://www.grinnell.edu/offices/dean/csmp/
