Pitzer College Student Kyle Dalrymple '17 Breaks Minute Barrier in Swim Meet

Kyle Dalrymple '17

Claremont, Calif. (January 8, 2014) — Pitzer College first-year student Kyle Dalrymple '17 won the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.81, becoming the fourth swimmer in team history to break a minute, as the Sagehens Men's Swimming and Diving team earned a 184-110 win over Wheaton (Mass.) on Tuesday in a non-conference meet at Haldeman Pool.

Dalrymple added a win in the 50-yard breaststroke, finishing 1-2 with sophomore Ferrel Atkins PO '16, who set the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke at the SCIAC Championships last year.

Since joining the Sagehens Swimming and Diving team in 2013, Dalrymple has racked up an impressive record. Against Cal Lutheran in December, he won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, nearly breaking the 1:00 mark in the 100 (1:00.13). He was also the top Sagehen finisher in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke against Fresno Pacific earlier this month. Dalrymple came to Pitzer from Southridge High School in Beaverton, OR, where he holds the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard medley relay, and earned All-American consideration and the team's Most Improved Award.

On Tuesday, the Sagehens Women's Swimming and Diving team won all 16 events on its way to a 226-62 win. Dalrymple and both Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams will be back in action this weekend for a SCIAC tri-meet with Occidental and Caltech on January 11.
