Claremont, Calif. (April 23, 2013)—Pitzer College students Rachel Aronoff ’15, Braden Bernards ’15 and Braden Holstege ’14 have been selected as Robert Day Scholars. The Robert Day Scholars Program at Claremont McKenna College's Robert Day School of Economics and Finance prepares students for leadership roles in business, finance, government and nonprofits.

“The Robert Day Scholars Program seeks highly-qualified Claremont College students who are interested in gaining additional knowledge and skills that will help prepare them for success in their future careers,” said Kevin Arnold, director of admission for the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance at Claremont McKenna College. “Rachel, Braden and Braden are excellent students with tremendous demonstrated leadership potential.”

Aronoff is active in KSPC radio, intercollegiate theatre and Prototypes. She plans to pursue coursework combining economics, finance and leadership studies with her Robert Day Scholarship. Aronoff is interested in obtaining a double major in organizational studies and Spanish.

Bernards is a student member of Pitzer’s Academic Planning Committee. During his time as a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholar in Nepal, Bernards became interested in finding ways to use business as a tool for social good. As a Robert Day Scholar, he will explore the intersection of the philanthropic and private-sector worlds.  He plans to major in political studies.

Holstege is an internationally ranked debater, award-winning Model UN delegate and student representative with Pitzer's Faculty Executive Committee. He will use the Robert Day Scholars Program to assist his transition into the world of high finance. Holstege is majoring in mathematical economics at Pitzer College.

Established in 2007, the Robert Day Scholars Program teaches students how to navigate complex organizations through coursework and leadership activities that emphasize the role of ethics and develop decision-making and communication skills. Holstege is a member of the Class of 2014 Robert Day Scholars; Aronoff and Bernards are members of the Class of 2015 Robert Day Scholars.
