Sagehen Women's Soccer Named to All-Region by National Soccer Coaches Association of America

Claremont, Calif. (December 13, 2011) — Rachel Eckerlin '12 and Traci Lopez '12 were named to the third team All-West Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Eckerlin was honored on the NSCAA All-Region teams for the second time in her career, while Lopez was a first-time selection.

Eckerlin closed out her career as a two-year team captain while playing a defensive midfield role. Her efforts helped the Sagehens fall one shy of the program record for wins in a season, while allowing just over one goal per game.

Lopez was the primary offensive weapon for the Sagehens, finishing the year with 11 goals, tying her for second in the SCIAC. She had two goals in a win over Biola, and at one point scored in five straight league games, including all three of the other teams which qualified for the conference tournament (Redlands, Cal Lutheran, CMS).

Sagehen Women's Soccer, which was ranked as high as fourth in the NSCAA Regional rankings this season, reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2005, when the team set a program standard with 11 wins. The Sagehens also qualified for the SCIAC Tournament for the first time since 2006.

Eckerlin and Lopez were also named to the second and first All-SCIAC teams this year.
