Pitzer College Alumnus Awarded California Community Foundation Fellowship for Visual Artists
Claremont, Calif. (August 3, 2011) — Pitzer College alumnus Martin Durazo '90 was awarded a 2011 California Community Foundation (CCF) Fellowship for Visual Artists.
Durazo, who majored in art and English at Pitzer College, is a sculptural and installation artist. He uses media such as drawing, experimental film and video, interdisciplinary-mixed media installation, painting and photography to create simulating exhibitions. His work has shown in Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York.
The CCF Fellowships are awarded to emerging and mid-career artists in Los Angeles County to develop business skills necessary to become self-supporting over-time. Since the fellowship was established in 1988, nearly $1.8 million in grants has been awarded by the community foundation to 195 professional artists.
