Sagehen Women's Tennis Ranks #6

Claremont, Calif. (March 29, 2011) – Pitzer College congratulates Sophia Baldwin '14, Katherine Cabrera '14, Chelsey Kitazawa '12, Jamie Solomon '13, Claire Willey '14 and the entire Sagehen women's tennis team for being ranked sixth nationally.

On March 10, the Sagehens defeated #29 Vassar College 9-0 and #24 UC Santa Cruz 8-1 on March 11, and then beat #30 Trinity-Texas 8-1 and #19 Skidmore College 9-0 on the weekend of March 12-13 to extend their winning streak to 7-0 for the 2010-11 season.

The Sagehen doubles teams of #3 Kara Wang-Jamie Solomon and #13 Nicole Holsted-Emily Kawahara continued their undefeated streak. Solomon is also ranked #2 as western regional singles player.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving.
