Sagehen Men's Cross Country Named All-Academic Team

Claremont, Calif. (February 18, 2011) — Pitzer College congratulates Alex Johnson ' 13 and Hale Shaw '12 who were named to the Division III All-Academic Team by US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA.) The Men's Cross Country team was also named an All-Academic Team by USTFCCA.

This honor is awarded to teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher and who scored at their respective NCAA Regional meeting. The average GPA for the Sagehen's 23-man roster was 3.49 and the team finished 5th at the NCAA West Regional Championship meet.

Shaw finished 34th in the NACC Regional and Johnson went on to represent the Sagehens at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championship meet.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving.
