Pitzer College Student Athletes Recognized for 2010-11 Season

Claremont, Calif (April 28, 2011) — Pitzer College congratulates seniors Jacob Caron, Bobby McNitt, Alexis Garcia and David Colvin for their athletic excellence. They will be recognized at the 2010-11 Student Athlete Awards dinner on April 27.

The Daley Award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement and will be presented to quarterback Jacob Caron. Caron was named to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-American Football Team and the 2010 SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year. He holds the Sagehen record from most completions, more yards and more touchdowns and ended his career as the number 10 ranked passer in NCAA Division III football.

The Judie and Frank Fenton Award for Athletic Achievement honors leadership on and off the field/pool/court. This year's Fenton Award will go to Sagehen football team tight end Bobby McNitt. He led all Sagehen receivers in yards per catch (10.2), averaging 44 yards per game and totaling 39 receptions for 396 yards on the season and was named the 2010 SCIAC First All-Conference Football Team.

The Most Outstanding Female Student Athlete Award honors the best all-around female student athlete. This year's award goes to softball infielder Alexis Garcia. She led the SCIAC in batting average of .500 and was named to the ALL SCIAC First Team and All-West Region Team—the first Sagehen in over 10 years.

The Most Outstanding Male Student Athlete Award honors the best all-around male student athlete. This year's award goes to men's baseball pitcher David Colvin. He's been named to the 2008 All-SCIAC Second Team, 2009 and 2010 SCIAC First Team and was a Division III Baseball Preseason All-American Selection in 2011.
