Jose Cortez Named to D3Baseball.com 2000's All-Decade Team

Claremont, Calif. (October 25, 2010) — Former Sagehen Jose Cortez '09 has been named to the D3baseball.com 2000's All-Decade Team. Cortez was unanimously selected as the First Team designated hitter.

Cortez, who majored in organizational studies, played for the Sagehens from 2000-2003 and was a member of two SCIAC Championship teams (2002, 2003.) He was a four time All-American, a three time SCIAC player of the year and his 70 career homers are an NCAA Division III record. Cortez was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and played three years in their organization.

Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving.
