Pitzer College Jumps in US News & World Report Ranking

Moves Up to 46th Nationwide; Ranked 13th in Most Students Studying Abroad, 14th in High School Counselors' Pick

Claremont, Calif. (August 17, 2010) — For the fourth consecutive year, Pitzer College is ranked a top fifty national liberal arts college by US News & World Report. Pitzer is ranked 46th this year, up from the 49th spot previously. Since 2002, Pitzer has moved from #70 to #46 in the US News & World Report ranking; its rise of 24 places is the greatest by any college or university.

In addition, Pitzer College also placed 13th nationwide in Most Students Studying Abroad and 14th nationwide in High School Counselors' Pick. The College was included in the Top 100 Lowest Acceptance Rate, Economic Diversity, Most International Students and Freshman Retention Rate lists.

The 2011 US News & World Report rankings provide a thorough examination of how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools compare on a set of 16 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings, the key measure of quality are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving, graduation rate performance and high school counselor ratings of colleges.
