Pitzer College Student Brianna Moffitt Awarded a UCB Crohn Scholarship
Claremont, Calif. (January 08, 2010)—Pitzer College congratulates Brianna Moffitt '12, recipient of a UCB Crohn Scholarship Award.
Moffitt, who has been suffering from Crohn's disease since age 11, is a psychology major at Pitzer. She has won numerous scholastic and leadership awards including the Girl Scout Gold Award and volunteered for many organizations like Painted Turtle Camp, a summer camp for chronically ill children. She hopes to be a psychologist for children and families with chronic and terminal illnesses.
"We are very proud of Brianna. Her academic achievements and her dedication to community service while battling Crohn's disease is uplifting and inspiring to all," said President Laura Skandera Trombley.
Selected by a panel of medical professionals from across the country, the UCB Crohn Scholarship is awarded to individuals diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a debilitating, chronic gastrointestinal illness. The winners must be actively pursuing a degree in higher education and excel in school, sports, volunteerism or activism.
