Pitzer College Athlete Named to All-SCIAC Team

Claremont, Calif. (November 13, 2009) – Pitzer College student-athlete Sarah Amos '10 was named to the 2009 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Team.

Amos led the team with 328 kills, was second in digs with 329 and tallied 33 blocks. She was fourth in the conference averaging 3.34 kills per set and tenth in digs per set with 3.46.

"I am very pleased that Sarah was able to have such a strong senior year, and we will have a difficult time trying to replace her," said Coach Valerie Cowan.

Even while battling a chronic shoulder injury her first three seasons, Amos managed to leave her mark in the Sagehen record books, ranking eight in career kills (857) and career total attempts (2549), tenth in single season kills (328) and third in single season total attempts (1046.)

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC.) Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving.
